David Birk is currently Managing Director of Black Belt Compliance, LLC. Headquartered in Tempe, Arizona, Black Belt is a consulting firm that assists public companies and other organizations with the design and implementation of programs needed to comply with numerous laws and regulations.
He has been an attorney for 40 years and is a member of the Bar of the State of New York. He has written and spoken on numerous legal topics, particularly on the topic of compliance. In 2008, David was named one of Arizona’s most influential lawyers by Arizona Business Magazine.
Previously, David was general counsel of Avnet, Inc. (Fortune # 108). He retired from Avnet at the end of 2012, after 32 years of employment and 23 years as general counsel. He led the acquisition of over 100 companies in all regions of the world.
David also created an Office of Compliance for Avnet, and sponsored the design and implementation of numerous ethics and compliance programs globally. He served as a speaker and trainer for many of those programs.
Prior to his affiliation with Avnet, David was associated with several law firms in the New York City area. He obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Florida and his JD from Cornell Law School.
Sepideh Moghadam is a strategic design and operations expert with more than 25 years of experience across diverse markets and industries. She is the former head of global operations for the Office of Compliance for a Fortune 150 company.
Previously Sepideh was a senior consultant with an established consulting firm, where she focused on project and system implementations for Fortune 150 organizations.
She has a broad range of experience in designing, implementing and managing projects and programs. In recent years, she has specialized in visioning for legal and compliance solutions both regionally and globally, and has developed a particular focus on the critical audit and measurement elements.
Sepideh is a certified professional in change management and organizational readiness. She also has a Black Belt certification for Six Sigma methodology and deployment. Her university training was in electrical engineering; and she has a masters degree in business administration.
He is recognized as an expert in human performance and leading organizational change. He has also led multi-million dollar change initiatives developing training for Fortune 500 companies.
Shawn is an accomplished speaker and trainer. He has traveled the world delivering training programs to small and large audiences. He is also a professional coach. Through training and coaching, Shawn has helped many organizations increase sales, employee morale, and reduce employee turnover.
Starting his career in the retail industry, Shawn moved from sales to management and was ultimately responsible for employee training and development. Shawn then transitioned into the hospitality industry where he led the training function for a casino.
He established a Corporate University and developed custom training for the casino employees as well as partnered on training initiatives for the Tribe. He then accepted a role with a Fortune 500 organization consulting with their executive leadership on organization-wide change initiatives. Shawn also has a Masters degree in Organizational Management.
